I’m no Perez Hilton

It’s very clear after last night I’m no Perez Hilton. Or Paris Hilton for that matter!

But I did get a photo of Paris on the red carpet at the Bottles and Models party. She was “the celebrity” everyone was waiting for, so I was a little disappointed to learn that my battery was about to die minutes before we were told she was showing up. And on top of that, we had a great spot until her entourage appeared. Then tons of people, who weren’t even media, started pushing and getting in the way. My photos of the hotel heiress were just not as fabulous as I expected them to be. And I learned a few important lessons. The first: If I were the paparazzi, I’d be fired.

The second important lesson: Perez Hilton would have been laughing at me. Even when the PR folks announced who was about to walk the red carpet, I had no idea who some of them were. Well the Playboy playmates were easy enough to spot, but knowing their names was another story. Then there was Shawn Levy, um who? And Devyn from the Real World Brooklyn?

Honestly I had no idea there was even a Real World Brooklyn. But I will tell you she enjoyed her time on the red carpet. She walked back and forth quite a few times.

Earlier in the night we were at Kevin Costner’s party, a shindig he was co-hosting with Michael Strahan. Strahan by the way still hadn’t shown up to his own party by the time we left.

But Costner patiently answered tons of questions on the red carpet. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy. And he’s pretty funny. He made fun of one of the local reporter’s earrings while she was trying to interview him. “You have chandeliers hanging from your ears,” he told her while she was trying for that important soundbite. And when one of my co-workers and anchor asked him if he’d say a phrase for our promos he gave her a look and said, “I don’t do those.”

We also saw Cuba Gooding Jr. But he didn’t want any part of microphones in his face. But when a photographer said, “Cuba!” he turned around and smiled for this pic.

He was another one I wouldn’t have recognized if it weren’t for the PR person. Shame on me, I know! But he’s a smaller in person. He definitely seemed taller in Jerry Maguire.

Of course maybe that’s because he was standing next to Tom Cruise during most of the movie. But I digress.

Overall my first red carpet experience was very entertaining, but I clearly have no future in it. I still can’t tell you what designers people were wearing, or why half of those “celebrities” are even famous.

Stylishly yours,
Miss Attitude

Sounds like a good time, glad you had the experience :)

  2. So glamourous are you… and it looks like you had fun! (but please — that purse the Real World chick was toting… SO did not match her outfit)

Good work. Like how you gleamed a lesson or two out of the experience.

I’m always amazed at how confident B-list celebrities look in photos. Fake it ’till ya make it, I guess.

Looks like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing.

Your photos are just fine! I used to think myself quite the pop-culture maven, but this week I found I was terribly mistaken.

I’d like to say I think I’d be rather unfazed by celebs. If I ran into ‘you know who’ I’d pee myself, though.

BFF & I were cracking up about your assessment of Cuba Gooding Jr … and we both said, “Of course he’s short – Tom Cruise wouldn’t want to be over-heighted in his movies!” And then we read the rest of your blog and cracked up again.

Thanks for the stress relief in an otherwise upsetting weekend.

You do not have to be Perez Hilton when you are Miss Attitude, and you definitely have a future in anything you want to have be.

BTW, I loathe Paris … skinny bitches must die.

You did a fantastic job. I was amazed at how short most male actors are. Loved the blog. Thank you for sharing your pics. And I agree with everyone, you will be great at whatever you decide to do.
