I just had the worst Thanksgiving I’ve ever had. And having been in TV news for countless years, I’ve worked many holidays. I’ve had to learn not to miss the traditional turkey day feast with my family, well not too much anyway.
And I have easily learned to enjoy it, at various times of the days depending on the shift, with my friends, who by the way are really my family too. So the other day when the doctor said I was contagious and should not to go to Thanksgiving dinner with my friends and get anyone else sick, I was sad. In fact, to say I was sad is probably an understatement.
But here I am still lying in bed, not hungry at all– despite all the turkey talk I see on Facebook and Twitter, I still know I’m thankful. I can’t tell you how lucky I am to have such amazing friends and family.
I have received countless e-mails and texts offering to get me whatever I needed, offering to drop me off Thanksgiving day plates for when I am hungry. Then there are others who e-mailed back and forth with me all day to keep me company. I am so blessed.

Words can not express how lucky I am to have such generous, caring and loving people in my life. Food is just food after all. But the people I love and who love me, well they are just irreplaceable. I may be lonely sitting here, but I know one thing for sure I will never ever be alone.
I hope the rest of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are able to recognize what you’re thankful for.
