What better way to ring in the new year, than to reevaluate 2008 and plan ahead for 2009. I came across the New Year’s meme on Reassigned Time, a blog I discovered through my favorite research technique, Google. So here it goes:
1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
There are quite a few things particularly related to the Web. I started my blog, launched this site and joined Twitter and Plurk.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I did not and will not, but as I posted last week I’m working on my 34 goals.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but a few of my close friends will this year.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
One of my friend’s boyfriend died.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, other than living here in the U.S.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
More of a social life. I spent the second half of 2008 working two jobs and being overly tired.
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
March 11: The day I was laid off.
April 3: The day I received an e-mail from the features editor of Marie Claire wanted to feature me in “Surviving a Layoff”.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Starting as an adjunct professor. I’ve always wanted to teach.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I can’t think of any. I’m actually quite proud of succeeding despite this year’s obstacles.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nope, nothing major.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Coach tote to replace the one ruined in the condo flooding debacle.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I’m stumped.. though I could name a few whose behavior merited reprimanding.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
John McCain for selecting Sarah Palin. All the women who were proud to vote for that woman.
14. Where did most of your money go?
My mortgage.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Summertime by New Kids on the Block.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
a) happier b) the same c) poorer
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Sleep I mean get a life. See #6.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Job searching, but I didn’t have a choice!
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it in Siesta Key with my parents.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
No.
22. How many one-night stands?
I plead the fifth. Or maybe I should take the Bill Clinton route– define one-night stand.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
It’s still Grey’s Anatomy, though not sure how much longer it will remain my favorite– particularly with this Denny alive nonsense.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No.
25. What was the best book you read?
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I can’t think of one.
27. What did you want and get?
Furniture for my office.
28. What did you want and not get?
A new pair of Manolos.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
That’s a tough one, it’s easily been six months since I last went to the movies.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 34. I celebrated with one of my friends who has the same birthday. It was a three day event including the beach, dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and a pool party. It’s a tradition.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having more money. Four months of unemployment made it a bit difficult at times.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Black and/or low cut to distract from the big hips/butt.
33. What kept you sane?
My friends, family and online peeps.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I’m still stuck on Johny Lynch. But now that he’s retired I better move on!
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election.
36. Who did you miss?
A few of my friends who no longer live in Tampa.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
It’s too hard to pick one, there have been quite a few including photographer Lisa Wiseman who made me look good in Marie Clare and recognized I had on the SATC black patent leather Manolos instantly, and my online pals who know who they are.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
I’m good at picking myself up and moving on.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can’t define what I’m after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time but I’m shattered
I always turn the car around
Happy New Year everyone!
Stylishly yours,
Miss Attitude

This was a fantastic share and insight into your world. “How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can’t define what I’m after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time but I’m shattered
I always turn the car around” That speaks volumes. Happy New Year. I hope it’s the BEST year of your life! (((hugs)))
Excellent, thanks for sharing! I get the unemployment issue, and it does have the effect of sucking the life out of ones self. You, however, have avoided that trap quite nicely! Here is hoping that 2009 is a very prosperous one for you. My life is enriched with your friendship!
I think it’s kind of cheating to not put what you are really excited about for 200)!
I am excited to cheer you on in your triumphs next year!
**hugsnkisses**
I have stolen for my own personal use
Thanks! *L*
You’re an amazing woman, and I hope you realize it … 2009 is your new playground: do not skip a thing!
I did this meme in 2007 … Do you think I could use it again?
I’m confident that 2009 will be a better year for us all.
