Does he still sleep in a twin bed? (Meet the Exes #43)

So what happens when a Meet the Exes post comes to life? Despite the fact I’ve taken a hiatus from these posts, it seems they haven’t taken a break from me. While at work on Friday, I came face to face with with Mr. Twin Bed. And I can tell you, the encounter really threw me for a loop.

The funny thing is I didn’t even know he was still in Tampa, let alone the building, until I looked up and saw him on the TV.  To say the situation was surreal is an understatement.   I haven’t seen this man in more than seven years.  And honestly stopped worrying I’d ever run into him again a long time ago.

Now I’m not going to lie, no need to here on the blog.  This man broke my heart.  Repeatedly.  And as I mentioned when I first introduced him last year, I have no idea why I didn’t think a grown man sleeping in a twin bed wasn’t the biggest red flag on the planet and run the other way, I still don’t know!

Now true confession time here, despite my anxiety about seeing him I could have gone out the door a few minutes ahead of time and avoided a one-on-one confrontation. But I didn’t sneak away. I’m not sure what possessed me. Blog material? A bizarre need to get a reaction from him since I had sat there and went through it myself without him even knowing? Who knows, either way when I walked out into the hallway to leave and he was walking by I said, “Imagine my surprise when I looked up and saw you on the TV.” I’m pretty sure he was just as surprised to see me.

He gave me a hug and told me it was good to see me. And he said he hadn’t known I was even still in Tampa, so I’m guessing that means he doesn’t know about the blog or that I’ve written about him. And he proceeded to make a little bit more of uncomfortable small talk. The weird thing is while he looked exactly the same, it felt fake.

And that really was about it. I walked out the door, still trying to make sense of how my day turned out that way, when I spotted his old beat-up pickup truck that he’s been driving since before I even met him. And then it dawned on me, I forgot to ask him if he was still sleeping in a twin bed!

“The weird thing is while he looked exactly the same it felt fake.”. That right there explains why he is rightfully so an ex. I have never been able to get over the awkward feeling when I run into one of my exes. I guess first of all you are not expecting to see them and second the rush of everything about the relationship comes rushing back at you in 30 seconds, that’s hard to tackle. You just have to be happy in realizing you made the right decision.

Twin bed… really? Well atleast you know he won’t be getting a lot of chicks with that game!

If he’s still driving the same old truck odds are he’s still sleeping in the same old bed…alone. There’s a reason he’s an ex!

You are obviously out of his league & The best part is you know he was thinking Wow look how fabulous she looks, she really has it together & I’m such an idiot!

If he’s still got a twin bed, then he definitely doesn’t want to let anyone into his space! I think seeing him face to face was a good thing – it seems you made the right decision to let him go. (hugs)

Yay for you not slinking out of sight! I hope you smiled when you saw his ratty ol’ truck (although they’re fun for swimming holes, NOT so much for everyday!) – the clock has stopped for him. You, however, are many, many blogs beyond him! :)

Sounds like you have continued to grow and mature since your last meeting, and he is stuck in the same old pick up truck bed!

This post title immediately made me think of my brother when he was in college. The Barbara Mandrell song “Sleeping single in a double Bed” was popular and he’d parodied it to “SLeeping double in a single bed.”

Anyway, my exhusband had a twin bed when we met because he lived with his mom. Yeah, a lesson learned the hard way. You were right to let that one go

Did he have Transformers sheets, too? LOL

  10. Lol a twin bed… yes I don’t think he’ll let anyone near him soon with that
