He’s so not a match! (Meet the Exes #46)

So despite pathetic attempts at online dating before, I was contemplating trying it again. That was until my close friend, loyal reader and now guest blogger, Miss Sassy, shared her latest experience with me. Thanks to her “detective” work this guy didn’t come close to being a boyfriend, let alone an ex, but it’s a lesson learned in red flags.

Stylishly yours,

You would think that guys would get a clue, wait I know I am giving them too much credit. But anyway, so a couple of years ago my friends always told me you are too picky, you need to open yourself up. Yada yada yada. So, fine I went on Match.com.

While I am not saying that it can not work for some people, I just do not think it is for me. So anyway, I have talked to a couple of guys and one for four months, but just not ready to talk about that one just yet. But the most recent does not live in my city and we exchange a lot of emails and then finally a couple of phone calls.

And you know you have to Google his ass. So, I did not have a last name but I knew kind of what he did. So, the place to go FACEBOOK!! Ha ha! typed in his first name and place he worked and a few pages later, there sits his little picture and tada! LAST NAME. Damn I am good.

So, next phone call I say hey what is your last name? And to my surprise he shortened his name. I sat there for a moment and said OK and continued on with the conversation. I am really not into this guy, as my friend Miss Attitude would say he is a distraction. We still exchange friendly emails but that is about it. But I refuse to let him get away with anything.

Now of course in his mind he is not thinking anything of it, but of yeah ladies I intend to call him out on his little name lie. Not because i want to win, which I like to do, but b/c it is wrong, it is wrong for him (or anyone) to think that you can talk to someone and maybe start a relationship and lie about something like your last name. Shall i say RED FLAG! Oh yeah, and it is noted.

So, ladies and gentlemen (ladies lie too), seriously the internet is a powerful thing so think twice before you decide to lie. I am a genius detective if you need me let Miss Attitude know. Ha ha!

I think the internet is a fantastic place for singles to meet, but as your homework shows, you can’t just take everything you’re told online at face value. The world has become a small place with technology, and it really is easy to find out something about a person by guying to google and checking things out.

People have their profiles published at Facebook and Linkin, so you are able to find out a lot about people without them knowing.

This dude sounds like a creep, and it’s good to see you took the time to get the background on him.

I find it increasingly amazing that in this day & age of the internet that people tell lies. It is so easy for anyone, as your guest blogger proves the point well today, to play private detective. Good for her and I believe that if you are going to venture online to find a mate that yes, google is your friend. :D
    Great guest post!
