I’m gonna lose it!

I’ve been debating about writing this post for a week now. I’m torn because I hate telling people I’m doing something if I’m not going to stick with it. But on the other hand, I think it’s a great idea and want to share. So here it goes. Thanks to my friend and fellow blogger cajunvegan of ireadbannedbooks.net fame, I downloaded the Lose It app on my iPhone a couple weeks ago.

I finally started using the weight loss tool last Sunday (I knew I had to wait until after my trip to Ocean City, MD of course!) The app allows you to set a target goal and decide how quickly you want to lose the weight. A pound a week. A pound and a half a week. Then based on your age, weight and goal it sets a daily calorie budget for you.

It also has a great search function so you can find the foods you eat, even fast food and restaurant choices, quickly and add them to your list.

You can also track your exercise, which if I’m being honest with you didn’t really happen last week with my crazy schedule.

And with a couple of touches to your phone you can see how many calories you have left after each meal and for the rest of the day.

As someone who’s bad with writing down food journals or any list in general, I find the “fun” element of the app helps. Now like I said I’ve only been doing it a week, but I am having some success with it already. The scary thing is when you realize how much you’ve been overeating, and how often your portion sizes are twice or three times what they should be.

I think the positive thing about Lose It is you can eat all types of food, which I find to be something I can live with better than other diets like South Beach for example. I lost a ton on that several years ago, but couldn’t maintain it. The main drawback is if you like to have a few cocktails, you’re faced with the stark reality of those wasted calories and possibly left a tad bit hungry at the end of the day. Then it’s time to bust out the celery or pickles!

If you’re already trying it, let me know. I’d like to know how you’re doing. If you want more information you can log onto www.loseit.com, or download it free from the App Store. That’s right, free! One of my favorite parts.

Stylishly yours,
Miss Attitude
