My husband and I recently rescued a Vizsla from the Tampa Bay Vizsla Club. His name is Tracker and we are so in love with him.
It is great to come home and have someone so excited to see you they can hardly contain themselves. I love animals just as much as the next person but there are some things I’ve seen pet owners do to their pets that baffle me.
Clothing: Seriously? Do you think your pet really wants to walk down the street in an argyle sweater or ballerina tutu? They already have built in coats, it is called fur. The same goes for Halloween costumes. Chocolate is deadly to dogs, they aren’t going trick-or-treating anytime soon.
Christmas Cards with your Pet: Miss Attitude thinks I might buckle on this one but there isn’t a chance. I don’t mind the photos of the kids but pets just aren’t the same.
Middle Names: I recently heard about this one. A friend of mine said when his mom gets mad at her dog she calls him by his first, middle and last name. I do remember my mom doing the same thing with me when I was younger and doing something I wasn’t supposed to.
Dogs in the store or in a baby carriage: Just because your dog can fit in a purse doesn’t mean they should be allowed in the grocery store or Michael’s. Unless it is a Seeing Eye dog or other service dog it shouldn’t get to go everywhere just because it is small. So many times I’ve been walking around and noticed a baby carriage coming my way. Loving kids just as much as I love animals I peak my head inside only to be startled by some mangy dog or cat sitting in a spot normally reserved for an infant.
But with all of that said; as long as an owner is giving a pet a loving home I don’t have any complaints.

I saw a dog in a doggie stroller last month while I was at the beach. :shocked: My sister had to pick my chin up from the floor. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Unless the dog is disabled I see no need for a stroller for a dog.
My old neighbors used to walk their cats and dogs on leashes and put their birds (with cages) in a stroller and take them for walks….um… they were a whole NEW level of crazy.
People who clothe their animals should be shot (unless said clothing is requested from a doctor because the animal has recently had surgery)
Kudos for the rescue. But you do realize you’ve adopted a toddler who will not grow up?!?!
Vizsla’s are little people trapped in 4-legged fur suits. Their love is endless!
Enjoy the wild adventures he’s going to take you on and look out for MVS {Multiple Vizsla Syndrome :shocked: }
My crazy mother-in-law used to walk her cat on a leash… wouldn’t surprise me in the least to learn she also tried dressing him up.
Dogs in clothes. Ridiculous.
well i have 3 rescue dogs and love them all. but i will admit my oldest who is 11 does wear a sweater. i put it on her as a joke and she never tried to take it off. my mom says it is b/c she is older and it is warm and comforting for her. but seriously when it turned cold here i pulled it out and she started dancing around. but that is as far as i go.
