Social media has taught me a lot. And yes, admittedly my addictive personalty goes into overdrive when people “unfriend” me on Facebook. People I know I real life. Poof. No explanation. Nothing. How rude!
But as I try to let it go, not my forte if you haven’t figured that out, I’ve turned the spotlight back onto Twitter.

I’m up to a little more than 850 followers and I follow nearly 800 people. Lately I’ve felt like it’s been too difficult to keep up with everyone, and that I’m missing out on some good Tweets. And then a few friends let me in on a secret. I’m following a lot of people who apparently don’t care what I have to say. Shocking, I know!
Recently I started watching how some people follow you in order to get you to follow in return. It usually takes me about a week or so to check and follow them back. By then, they’ve already dropped me. To many on here it’s all a numbers game. Well guess what? Miss Attitude is not just a number.
Do you hear me @jordanknight? That goes for you too @Alyssa_Milano– I’ll show you who’s the boss! You three @aplusk! We all know Ashton Kutcher is a follower whore. And I’m not buying the news he’ll stop Tweeting of the Twitter TV show is a game. He clearly likes the attention.
Now apparently it’s not just celebrities who are ignoring yours truly. Thanks to www.friendorfollow.com I learned 161 people I was following are not following me back.

And I know I wouldn’t have started to follow some of these crazies if they hadn’t followed me first. Then there are the ones on this list who are my “friends”. I checked one and he had 104 followers and he was following 103. REMOVE. REMOVE. REMOVE.
Yes, okay maybe I took a few bitter pills, but I’m not going to waste time reading what you have to say when you don’t care I what I have to say. It defeats the point of being social. Now don’t misconstrue what I’m saying here, I’m not begging anyone to follow me. If you don’t like me, that’s fine. I’ll save my energy on the people who are worth following. But at least now I know.
Stylishly yours,
Miss Attitude

I tend to use twitter as a working/informational tool for the most part. My twitter friends help me out daily with whatever work issues I might have that pop up. I have learned so much from them.
That being said, I love that website friendorfollow it was very eye opening.
I agree with you, if you are my friend in the first place why aren’t you following me back? It is after all a very important part of a “social site.”
Excellent post.
You mean Martha Stewart isn’t following you? She follows me and hangs on every word I Tweet!
NOT
*giggle* I did the same thing yesterday and while I am SHOCKED that the Kardashian sisters are not following me, I got a little bent out about people that I thought followed me, my “friends” who didn’t. I deleted about 20 people from my list, I feel so free!
I hear ya – but hey, what about the friends you follow, that you @ reply to and NEVER respond… or worse they follow you and never acknowledge your existence.
Yep – for the most part, twitter people are attention whores who have no real grasp on what communication SHOULD be
That link is very interesting to run. I need to clean mine up, I am thinking.
All that being said, everyone I follow with the exception of a few informational only tweetle follow me
